It’s time for your next trip to Kruger…

Mdluli Safari Lodge is a little slice of tented Kruger heaven.

Located inside the south-western borders of the park means that we literally do have the Big 5 in our backyard.

Each day, our fascination with, and appreciation for, this place grows deeper. And this perspective has given us another Big 5 to relish.

(Ps. We’d love to hear if you’ve got your own to add – we love nothing more than to share our love of this place with fellow adoring Kruger fans.)

1. Boma evenings under the open African sky

The quintessential Kruger boma dining experience. Arresting all your senses: nature’s perfect star-lit canvas above you, the hyenas laughs cutting through the night sky, the crackles of the open flames, the spicy smells of the potjie, the cork pop of a perfectly paired bottle of red, the oozing sweetness of a braai’ed marshmallow ….  is there a better way to end a day in Kruger?

2. A tented luxury experience, inside the Park

Waking up in your elevated canvas tent –  maximising luxury, comfort and privacy. Let the break of dawn stream through the cracks in the canvas, with the echoes of the bird calls as your alarm clock. Wrap yourself in your soft gown, curl up in the hammock-style chair on your private patio, and sip your coffee while your eyes stretch into the majestic vistas of the bush.

3. Viewing game while lazing in the infinity pool

With the warm African sun (even in winter) beating down, there is no better cooling off spot. Here, you have the front row seat to nature’s ultimate show. Perfectly positioned for uninterrupted views of the watering hole – only a few meters from the fence – you can watch herds of elephant and buffalo amble past. Look out for kudu, giraffe, wildebeest – and even a rare sable if you’re lucky – coming to drink.  We have spotted three out of the (official) Big 5 while enjoying a cocktail by the pool (surely that deserves some bragging rights?).

4. 360 degree views from nature’s ultimate viewing deck

Just a short walk from the main lodge, and your tent, you can make your way up to the top of the exquisite, expansive rock formation, located inside the lodge’s fenced perimeter.  Let this ancient flat rock take your breath away, surrounded by 360 degree panoramic views of the Park.

Treat yourself to a sunrise from up here. Head up at dawn for some quiet time – or some yoga. Or let our team set up your sundowners as you sit back, Amarula in hand, and watch the sun disappear into the horizon at the end of another Kruger day.

5. Feel good, and leave something good behind

Kuhamba kubona (Siswati proverb) translates to ‘Travelling opens one’s eyes’.

The authentic charm of Siswati tradition and culture is infused into the lodge’s experience through our proud partnership with the Mdluli Community. After all your experiences at Mdluli Safari Lodge  – whichever Big Five you tick off your list – you can drive out our gate at the end of your stay with not only your memories, but the knowledge that you have had a lasting positive impact on the Mdluli Community.

We invite you to be part of our story – a story that began with one humble man’s bold vision for the land and for the Mdluli people.

We look forward to hosting you so that you can leave Kruger with even deeper cravings – fuelled by your sightings and experiences of the Big 10!

We are ready when you are!
